HERE'S WHAT'S NEW: 11-13-08: The November rant, "Peace of Mind", was posted on the Screaming the FISH Cheer page.11-11-08: Soon it will be Thanksgiving, and that means we will be into the holiday season. That also means it's time for me to repost my Holiday page. As always, I encourage you to help get the message out by linking to this page, copying it, using it on your own website (please keep it intact, thank you), and forwarding it in all your email.11-05-08: This is SO COOL I just had to give you a chance to try it. Fill in your name and click on "video announcement" and see one of the neatest internet tricks I've come across yet, thanks to some AARP ingenuity that I wish I was net savvy enough to duplicate!
I've been writing--and selling--short stories and articles since 1976. My writing is not, has never been, and probably never will be, limited to one age group or one genre. Some of the places where my writing has been published are:* SOUL TEEN * GENESIS * BABY TALK * LIGHTED PATHWAY * INTIMACY * TRUE LOVE * PENNYWHISTLE PRESS * CHICAGO DAILY NEWS * EQUINEWS * JIVE * TIME TO PAUSE * TEACHERS INTERACTION * CROCKETT-DIAL * SECRETS * LOVEWORDS * MOONDANCE *
Some of the things I love (which often turn up in my writing) are:
- GUYS WITH LONG HAIR I only have two theories about men: a man's hair can never be too long or too blond, and long has priority over blond any day.
- GENEVA-ON-THE-LAKE Ohio's oldest summer resort Give me a time machine and I'd relive my GOTL summers, especially '68 through '71 (Dad wouldn't allow me to stay alone at GOTL until I was 16 in 1968). I vacationed at GOTL as a kid, worked and lived here in the summers as a teen, then bought a year-round house here in '85. In '94 health reasons forced me to leave, but now I'm back--thank you God!
- BLUES and ROCK There's two things in life that have to be hard to be good and rock is one of 'em! I LOVE lead guitar licks screaming through my head at ear-splitting volume live and right up at stage (I once had a bass player tell me if I wanted to be any closer I'd have to sit on the stage).
- HORSES I'm partial to all-over Leopard Appys and blood bay Quarter Horses, although my Appy wasn't an all-over Leopard Appy and my blood bay gelding wasn't a Quarter Horse. Mom always said if the Strip was zoned for horses I'd be in heaven.
- DOGS In October '07, my first Golden died. I've also owned three Collie bitches and as a child I had a Boxer and others. I started obedience training when I was eleven, but, for me, horse shows always had priority over dog shows.
I can work up some interest in just about anything else, too--EXCEPT football or math.Everyone's been asking, "Why writer OFF the lake and not writer ON the lake?" Because when I started the first website, I was living "off the lake". Now that I'm back "on the lake", I've kept "writeroffthelake" because I'm "writeroffthelake" on other email accounts and some forums, so "writeroffthelake" I will stay.
